JOB DESCRIPTION: A typical 70’s Kiwi weatherboard home with a 3 meter ceiling height that gets pretty cold during the winter days. This young family have been finding it very difficult to maintain a warm environment and with a new born along the way they decided to invest in their health and comfortability. In the last 2 years they have been heating their home with electric panels which has cost them a small fortune in power.

A free site visit was arranged and a quote underway within 3 days of first contact. Our operations manager was quickly able to establish a quick method to retrofit this home and size the radiators in a way that would maintain an even heat throughout the premises. On average 1 – 2 KW radiators per room achieved the outcome this family was looking for.

Additionally the opportunity was taken to upgrade the existing low pressure hot water system to mains pressure by using a combination boiler which achieved this outcome at a minor additional cost. With the price of gas being much lower than the price of electricity and usage of a super-efficient condensing boiler saving will be noticeable immediately.
Challenges included the increase of gas service pipe to accommodate the additional MJ volume. Access to internal walls with limited space from underneath the house to position radiators correctly is a common challenge with retrofits. In this case a new extension was made on a concrete slab which challenged our technicians to provide F/R services in the correct location.
